Destaco FL-122-45 variable stroke straight line action clamp uses a plunger to generate positive linear force, as well as hold & position workpieces for machining. This plunger clamp is ideal for the metalworking, woodworking, aerospace & automotive industries and is integrated with a flanged mounting base for secure & easy installation. Destaco FL-122-45 variable stroke straight line action clamp is ideal for applications where workpiece tolerances & thicknesses vary. It is recommended for clamping between ribs & hollow spaces which are difficult to reach. It utilises a plunger and a hand lever / hand wheel that can be operated either separately or simultaneously. When clamping the unit against a workpiece, the clamping stroke can be reduced by the force locking connection between the plunger and the workpiece. This straight line action clamp can then be unlocked by turning the hand lever or wheel counter-clockwise. To change the position of the handle while in the clamped or unclamped position, the user has to pull the hand lever off its spline and set it in the desired position. The clamping force is proportional to the operation force, hence the achieved clamping force must not exceed the maximum holding force. Destaco FL-122-45 variable stroke straight line clamp features balanced construction to offer rigid holding and assured long life.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Q. How does a straight line action clamp work?
A. A straight line clamp incorporates a sliding plunger to provide straight line clamping action. The plunger can be locked in either pulling or pushing direction for holding workpieces.
Q. Are straight line action clamps available in multiple mounting styles?
A. Yes, Destaco straight line action clamps are available in foot mount flanged base, front flange mount and through hole mounting styles.
Q. Which grease is ideal for Destaco clamps for their rebuilding?
A. A coupling grease like Mobil XTC should be used when dealing with Destaco mechanical clamps, while the Magnalube G grease is great for use with pneumatic cylinder seals.
Q. What does holding capacity mean in terms of clamps?
A. The holding capacity or the holding force depicts the clamp's capability to hold down equipment or sheet metal on assembly lines or during similar manufacturing processes.
Q. What is the significance of the red colour of the handle of Destaco clamps?
A. There is no such significance of the red colour of the clamp handle, as it only depicts a recognisable area. This helps operators in finding the handle easily & quickly.
Q. What does clamping force mean?
A. Clamping force is the amount of force actually applied to the workpiece by closing & locking the clamp. It is normally less than the stated holding capacity. The actual clamping force depends on various factors, such as cylinder bore, cylinder area, spindle position (clamping arm length) and available air pressure. In most cases, the clamping force is approximately 2 to 3 times the force exerted by a pneumatic cylinder.
Q. Does Destaco supply water resistant clamp sensors?
A. Yes, Destaco also supplies inductive sensors designed in accordance with IP65 standards to ensure protection from powerful hydraulic jets, dust & heavy rain.
Q. Are Destaco variable stroke straight line action clamps ideal for side loads?
A. These clamps are designed only for axial loads. To accomodate side loads, we would recommend an additional radial support for the plunger.
