Destaco FL-121-45 variable stroke straight line action clamp is ideal for applications where workpiece tolerances & thicknesses vary. It is recommended for clamping between ribs & hollow spaces which are difficult to reach. Destaco FL-121-45 variable stroke straight line action clamp uses a plunger to generate positive linear force, as well as hold & position workpieces for machining. This plunger clamp is ideal for the metalworking, woodworking, aerospace and automotive industries, and is equipped with a flanged mounting base for secure & easy installation. It utilises a plunger and a hand lever / hand wheel that can be operated either separately or simultaneously. When clamping the unit against a workpiece, the clamping stroke can be reduced by the force locking connection between the plunger and the workpiece. The straight line action clamp can then be unlocked by turning the hand lever or wheel counter-clockwise. To change the position of the handle while in the clamped or unclamped position, the user has to pull the hand lever off its spline and set it in the desired position. The clamping force is proportional to the operation force, hence the achieved clamping force must not exceed the maximum holding force. Destaco FL-121-45 variable stroke straight line clamp features balanced construction to offer rigid holding and long life.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Q. Are Destaco variable stroke straight line action clamps ideal for side loads?
A. These clamps are designed only for axial loads. To accomodate side loads, we would recommend an additional radial support for the plunger.
Q. Are these straight line action clamps available in different mounting styles?
A. Yes, Destaco straight line clamps are also available in foot mount flanged base and through hole mounting styles. You can browse through the FO, FL & G Series Straight Line Clamps page for multiple mounting options.
Q. Which grease is recommended for use with Destaco clamps when rebuilding?
A. While dealing with the brand's mechanical clamps, we would recommend using a coupling grease like Mobil XTC, while pneumatic cylinder seals require the Magnalube G grease. They only require a few drops of lubricating oil to keep them in excellent condition.
Q. What does holding capacity mean in terms of clamps?
A. The holding capacity or the holding force depicts the clamp's capability to hold down equipment or sheet metal on the assembly line or during manufacturing processes.
Q. How do Destaco manual clamps work with, and benefit fixture applications?
A. Destaco manual straight line action clamps securely hold a part into a fixture in a safe and ergonomic way. These quick acting clamps improve productivity and cycle times.
Q. What does clamping pressure mean?
A. The holding power / clamping pressure of a variable stroke straight line manual clamp is a crucial factor to take into account before starting an application. The operator has to place the right amount of pressure on the workpiece while clamping. We suggest not to exceed the recommended pressure because it may tremendously damage your workpiece. In addition, too little weight is also not ideal.
Q. How do straight line action clamps work?
A. Straight line action clamps are manually operated using levers or handles for pushing clamp plungers against the workpieces and holding them securely.
