Destaco 5310-R horizontal hold down toggle locking clamp is suitable for fastening materials / workpieces to a workbench in metalworking facilities. This manual hold down clamp is an ideal choice for operations where there is a requirement to clamp / detach the workpiece repeatedly throughout the task. Destaco horizontal hold down clamp features a straight style handle with a plastic grip to provide maximum leverage while clamping & ensuring user comfort over prolonged usage. Its clamping arm is high strength forged alloy steel constructed for withstanding harsh industrial abuse. This manual toggle clamp is designed for ensuring a long life cycle when using standard clamping arms. It features hardened steel bushings & pivot pins for ensuring durability. Destaco horizontal hold down toggle locking clamp comes with a solid bar clamping arm that keeps the workpiece stationary throughout the operation & prevents it from loosening / slipping. The clamp's carbon steel construction & black oxide finish minimises damage / wear against harsh industrial environments. However, this toggle clamp is not recommended for food & packaging, machining, checking closures & woodworking operations. Destaco 5310 Series clampsare also offered in solid base & Toggle Lock Plus enabled variants on Raptor Supplies.
A. Yes, in addition to this flanged base solid bar variant, Destaco also offers solid base (Destaco 5305-B) and flanged base Toggle Lock Plus enabled (Destaco 5305-R) horizontal clamps.
A. Destaco horizontal hold down clamps are designed for keeping a workpiece stationary against a flat surface / workbench in various industrial applications, such as metalworking and woodworking.
A. The holding force or the holding capacity depicts the clamp's capability to hold down a sheet metal or an equipment on assembly lines or during manufacturing processes.
A. Some U bar style clamping arm clamps feature a flat tip bonded neoprene spindle that is manually operated using a handle / lever. This handle movement pushes the spindle against the workpiece and prevents it from moving mid operation, thereby ensuring secure clamping.
A. Clamping force is the amount of force actually applied to a workpiece by closing & locking the clamp. It is normally less than the stated holding capacity. The actual clamping force depends on various factors, such as cylinder bore, cylinder area, spindle position (clamping arm length) and available air pressure. In most cases, the clamping force is approximately 2 to 3 times the force exerted by a pneumatic cylinder.
A. For ensuring smooth operation & durability of mechanical clamps, it is recommended to use a coupling grease like Mobil XTC.
A. The red coloured handles alert the user about the location of the operating handle and when he should grab it. The red colour has no additional advantage to the working of the clamps.
A. The difference lies in the orientation of the handle when the clamp is in the locked position. A vertical clamp handle is vertically oriented (perpendicular to the base) when in locked position, while in the case of a horizontal toggle clamp, it is horizontally oriented (parallel to the base).
