Altronix NetWay1XP single port power injector is a type of midspan power injectorthat uses Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) technology for supplying power and passing on data (text, audio and video) when connected with PoE devices directly or with non PoE devices through a separate adapter. These devices can be at a maximum distance of 100 m from the midspan NetWay1XP injector. This injector is supplied with power using a plug-in transformer having a voltage rating of 24VAC or 24VDC at 1.5A current. The NetWay1XP power injector's RJ45 port provides power at 15 / 30W and transmits data over ethernet (CAT5) cable. This device passes data over an ethernet / data cable that is already in place instead of installing additional power sockets for each of the devices, thereby reducing extra wiring. It has insulated housing with a lightweight & compact design for easy installation in a limited space. This injector comes with numerous safety features like short circuit protection, PoE manual shutdown (UL60950-1 application only), auto-detection & protection facility of legacy non-PoE cameras / devices and LED indicators for port status & IP link status.
Uses:
Altronix NetWay1XP can be connected to both PoE and non-PoE devices (using accessories) like PoE cameras, fixed IP cameras, VoIP phones, wireless access points & networked audio devices in offices and commercial & industrial spaces.
Features:
- Altronix NetWay1XP single-pole injector comes with a TP2450 plug-in transformer to deliver 24VAC or 24VDC input power & 1.5A current.
- It has a PoE port (RJ45) that supplies power and transfers data to devices through an ethernet (CAT5) cable.
- This IEEE 802.3at (30W) and IEEE 802.3af (15W) compliant port offers a maximum power rating of 30W at a supply voltage of 48VDC.
- It can transfer data and power up to a distance of 100 m.
- This power injector is equipped with various safety features like short circuit protection, PoE manual shutdown (for UL 60950-1 application only) and auto-detection & protection facility of legacy non-PoE cameras / devices.
- It is equipped with LED indicators: red for port status and yellow & green for IP link status.
- This midspan injector has a compact insulated housing for minimising space requirement while installing or operating.
- It operates at temperatures and altitudes ranging from 0 to 45 degrees C (at 48VDC power) and -304.8 to 3048 m, respectively.
Compatible Accessories:
- NetWayXTX repeater module can be used to extend the data range by an additional distance of 100 m. Multiple repeaters based on the device port requirements can provide a maximum range of 600 m.
- NetWay1512 adapter and NetWay3012 adapter connect non-PoE compliant, fixed IP cameras to Altronix NetWay1XP power injector.
Standards and Approvals:
- Altronix NetWay1XP midspan power injector is CE marked (European Conformity) and UL & cUL listed to ensure superior performance and user safety.
Installation:
- Altronix NetWay1XP injector is securely mounted on a wall using a fastener and / or wall anchors.
- Then, the marked terminal [24VAC/VDC Input] is connected to a UL-listed Class 2 transformer using 22 - 16AWG wire for supplying the input power.
- Two structured cables are used to link the [IN] port to a UL-listed ethernet switch or a video server and the [OUT] port to the PoE device.
- Port status LED lights up to indicate normal operation & secured connection.
- To begin PoE shutdown, a voltage in the range of 12 to 24VAC or 5 to 24VDC is manually applied to the [Power Shutdown] marked input terminal. This mechanism stops the output power supplied by the power injector.
- The NetWay1XP unit starts supplying power normally to PoE compliant devices once the applied voltage is removed from the shutdown terminal.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Q. Can we connect any PoE device to the Netway1XP power injector?
A. Altronix Netway1XP is compatible with PoE devices requiring power supply ratings up to 30W.
Q. How much time does the Netway1XP power injector take to return to normal operation from PoE shutdown mode?
A. It takes around 4 seconds to return to normal operation after PoE shutdown mode is deactivated.
Q. What kind of input power supply is required in Netway1XP?
A. It is recommended to use a Class 2 rated transformer / power supply like TP2450 plug-in transformer to deliver 24VAC / 24VDC input power at 1.5A current.
Q. What is a midspan power injector?
A. Midspan power injectors are PoE devices that connect a non-PoE-capable switch or data server with a PoE-capable device (such as an IP camera). These injectors add (or inject) power to an ethernet or data cable for powering PoE devices without connecting each device with a separate power supply.
Q. How far can power injectors work?
A. A PoE injector can transfer both power and data to powered devices at a maximum distance of 100 m. The transfer range can be extended by a further 100 m using repeater modules. Multiple repeaters can be connected for a maximum range of 600 m to transfer power & data simultaneously.
Q. What are the advantages of midspan power injectors?
A. PoE injectors or midspan power injectors deliver power & data to PoE devices with greater reliability, faster transmission speed and better security compared to WiFi enabled cameras. These PoE injectors also reduce the wirings associated with directly powered devices.
