Starrett 657D magnetic indicator holder base offers three precision ground magnetic contact surfaces and can grip horizontally, vertically or upside down. This Starrett 657D magnetic indicator holder base comes with an extra #1/4-20 tapped hole in one side for the mounting post. It further offers a powerful & permanent magnetic base that firmly holds to iron or steel surfaces.
Starrett 657D magnetic indicator holder base has a magnetic base that's connected to an adjustable arm assembly used to mount and position indicators. This Starrett magnetic base is also known as mag base and is always-on or feature an on / off knob or button to mount to moors, machines,, benches, or other metal surfaces.
The magnet, when it is rotated or pressed, acts as the ON / OFF switch for the Starrett 657D magnetic indicator holder base. It is the movement of the magnet which magnetises the iron, effectively switching the base on and off.
A. Starrett magnetic bases have an on/off switch. They can be stored "on", with the magnet attached to a metal surface, or "off", in a drawer or tool chest. Don't leave the base switched "on" without attaching it to a metal surface that will cause the magnet to weaken over time. Make sure the base doesn't get knocked over.
A. Starrett magnetic base holder, paired with a dial indicator (or test indicator) can help you tackle common inspection jobs, like measuring runout or comparing parts to a master.
A. Consider clamping force- A strong magnet ensures that nothing will move until the user wants it to. Clamping force, advertised in pounds, varies; so choose one that meets your needs, including the weight of the indicator you're planning on using.
A. Keep your dial or test indicators in a dry place, away from the risk of being dropped. Keeping them covered, away from dust and moisture is a good practice.
