Product Details:

Speakmanmanufactures plumbing products and safety equipment for use in commercial facilities and manufacturing & chemical industries. Speakman SE-950 shower & eyewash test kit is used to examine the performance of emergency safety showers and eyewashes. Emergency eyewash & shower stations are used primarily in chemical applications to flush away chemicals & irritants from a worker's body, face or eyes and prevent injuries / accidents.

Working Mechanism:

  • For testing the emergency shower stations, attach the wide end of the funnel sleeve to the rod assembly's circular metal bracket / attachment ring using the hook and loop closure strips.
  • Then, place the small opening side of the funnel sleeve into the test bucket and hold the large opening side under the showerhead. Operate shower as needed for testing flow rate & proper functioning of emergency showers.
  • For testing eyewash stations, follow instructions on eyewash tester after placing eyewash in spray pattern and verify compliance according to ANSI specifications.
  • The funnel sleeve & eyewash tester should be dried, the test bucket should be emptied after testing for durability.

Features:

  • Speakman SE-950 shower & eyewash test kit contains an assortment of tools like bucket and lid, funnel sleeve, attachment ring, handle and eyewash tester.
  • The 5 gallon / 20-litre white bucket & lid has a plastic construction and collects the dispensed water from shower stations.
  • The funnel sleeve, made of vinyl, channels the water from shower heads into the bucket.
  • The steel attachment ring & PVC handle connect the funnel sleeve to the showerhead and control the water flow.
  • The eyewash tester made of plastic acts like a gauge to test the height, flow rate & other parameters of water flow in eyewash stations.

  • Speakman Eye Wash Stations: They are used to remove irritants or chemicals from the eyes of workers for preventing eye injuries.

  • ANSI / ISEA Z358.1
  • OSHA

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q. How often should emergency shower & eyewash stations be tested?

A. Users should run these emergency, shower & eyewash units weekly for testing the water flow. Full inspection may be done periodically or annually according to local safety standards & guidelines.

Q. What are the points to be noted while installing emergency shower & eyewash stations?

    A.
  • Users should install the shower & eyewash stations in a well-lit location with a highly visible sign. The path towards these stations must be obstruction free to save time & prevent accidents.
  • They must be located within 10 seconds from a hazardous application and immediately adjacent to the hazards involving strong acids or caustics.
  • The units should start supplying water within one second after actuation. The supplied water should have a tepid temperature ranging from 16 to 38 degrees C (60 to 100 degrees F).

Q. What steps should workers follow if they are exposed to hazardous chemicals?

    A.
  • Use an emergency shower or eyewash immediately if your skin or eyes are exposed to hazardous chemicals or irritants. Delayed washing may result in irreparable tissue or eye damage.
  • In case of exposure to the eyes, flush the eyes for a minimum of 15 minutes. The eyes should be kept open and rotated in all directions for removing contamination thoroughly.
  • In case of exposure to the skin, flush the exposed body part with a large quantity of water for a minimum of 15 minutes. The user / worker should remove contaminated clothing, jewellery, and shoes for a thorough cleaning.
