Product Details:

Lisle LS/12220 NOx sensor thread chaser is a multiple point tool, employed as one of a set of four in a die head for cutting a screw thread. This thread chaser is used to improve the threads, contrary to a cutting tap that takes out too much thread material.

Working Mechanism:

Chaser tap is used to re-form and clean existing threads. The spirals on a chaser tap are manufactured in a way that they follow an existent helical thread spiral path without withdrawing material. While you may be able to execute the task with a standard cutting tap, you run the risk of weakening the existing threads. This is important when dealing with critical-torque-load threaded holes like cylinder head bolt holes in an engine block?s deck.

Features:

  • Lisle LS/12220 thread chaser is suitable for use with a 13/16 inch hex socket.
  • It can also be employed with a 3/8 inch square drive.
  • This Lisle LS/12220 thread chaser repairs M20x1.5 NOx sensor threads.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q. What is the difference between a thread chaser and a tap?

A. Thread chasers are not manufactured for cutting new threads. On the other hand, the taps create new threads. When you drill a hole in a metal, you demand to run a bolt into the hole. Then you can use a tap to cut the thread.

Q. What is thread milling?

A. Thread milling is a universal, cost-efficient method for anyone cutting an array of threads, parts and workpiece materials on the same machine.

Q. What is a thread in machining?

A. A thread refers to a continuous helical ridge and has a uniform section on varied surfaces of a cylinder or cone. It can form on the screw / bolt (external) or nut (internal) surface. A thread's main function is to serve as a coupling between two mechanisms.
