Product Details:

Jet Tools 708675PK table saw is used for cutting across or ripping the wood grain. It consists of a ripped blade mounted on an arbour and driven by an electric motor. The blade protrudes through the top of a table, providing support for the material being cut. This cabinet table saw has an extended surface to support large workpieces and sheet goods, delivering more precise cuts and control than mitre or portable table saws. It is plugged into a wired power source and includes an onboard fence and mitre gauge storage.

Features:

  • It is equipped with chrome-plated handwheels for smooth trunnion / arbour movement and an independent leaf safety guard to protect the operator from the blade while cutting, even at 45 degrees tilt.
  • The saw includes a heavy-duty trunnion and concave teeth on gears to promote blade raising / tilting.
  • It has a quick-release riving knife that rises and lowers with the blade, reducing kickback risk and allowing fast mounting and removing.
  • It features a Poly-V belt drive system for optimal power transmission with no vibration and less heat build-up.
  • This table saw also comes with a push button arbour lock that eliminates the need for dual arbour wrenches and is accessible from above the tabletop.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q. What are the different types of table saws?

A. There are six table saws available for different industrial applications:

  • Benchtop: These units are lightweight and placed on a table or other support for the operation. They use a direct drive motor to create a cross, ripping and dado cuts on wood.
  • Jobsite: They are slightly larger than benchtop models and are placed on a folding or stationary stand during operation. They feature a more robust motor and location flexibility, making them ideal for various industries.
  • Compact: These saws are large, portable and can be placed on a stationary stand for support. They are usually driven by small-toothed belts and allow ripped cuts with great efficiency. Some models feature a sliding mitre table with a built-in sled to assist with angle cuts.
  • Contractor: Also known as open-stand saws, these units are attached to a stand or platform with wheels for portability. They use induction motors for a quieter operation and one or two drive belts for driving the blade.
  • Cabinet: They incorporate induction, belt-driven motors to reduce vibration and offer accuracy when making standard rip or compound cuts. These saws are stationary and allow the cutting of large stocks in various applications.
  • Hybrid: These saws are a mix of contractor and cabinet models. They are paired with a cabinet stand and an internal motor mount, with the only difference in the trunnion design. They also come with a full enclosure to provide maximum dust collection.

Q. How do I maintain my table saw?

A.

  • Daily wipe the table surface and grooves with a rust-preventive solution. Also, clean the pitch and resin from the saw blade.
  • Weekly, clean motor housing with compressed air, as well as wipe down the fence rails with a dry silicon lubricant.
  • Periodically, clean the cabinet and trunnion area to remove dirt and debris.

Q. How should I use a table saw safely?

A.

  • Unplug the table saw and fit the blade into the blade arbour on the top of the table.
  • Adjust the blade height to meet the thickness of the material being used.
  • Position the rip fence by releasing the locking lever that locks the fence into place and allows it to slide its inner edges to the desired width of the cut.
  • Plug in the table saw and place the material aligned with the ripped fence. Wait until the blade reaches full speed before making contact with the material to prevent kickback.
  • Guide the material slowly but firmly along the rip fence, keeping it flat along the table top and snugly aligned with the fence. Do not leave the material, which may cause the material to lift, distorting the surface, and increasing the risk of damage.
  • Use a push stick to keep fingers away from the moving blade. This is important when making narrow rips.

Q. What are the advantages of using a table saw?

A. The big advantage of using a table saw over a mitre or circular saw is that they are stationary, allowing the operator to see and make accurate cuts on large workpieces. They feature expandable sides for accommodating large pieces in small areas, a riving knife for making concealed cuts and handwheels to adjust the height or angle of the blade for different thicknesses of the material.
