Product Details:

Vertical hold down clampsare equipped with a straight handle that is perpendicularly oriented to the base when in locked position. These handles push the clamping arm or attached spindle assembly against workpieces for secure clamping. They are ideal for applications that require repeated clamping / detaching of workpieces throughout the operations. Destaco 7-58 vertical hold down clamp is made of carbon steel for heavy duty clamping operations and preventing regular wear & tear damage due to rough usage. This manual clamp is ideal for holding down workpieces against flat surfaces in woodworking, light machining, metalworking, manufacturing & closure operations. It has a solid clamping bar that can be cut, welded or modified to adjust the clamp according to diverse application requirements and keep workpieces stationary throughout the operation. This clamping bar can open up to 95 degrees for quick loading & unloading of workpieces. Destaco 7-58 cam action clamp can hold workpieces of varying thicknesses for preventing frequent changing of clamps. It has flange base with threaded mounting holes for secured installation on horizontal surfaces / workpieces. This clamp offers a maximum load holding capacity of 600 lb. Raptor Supplies also offers similar clamp variants having holding capacities of 475, 1000 and 1600 lb.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q. What other variants of Destaco 7-58 clamp are available on Raptor Supplies?

A. Raptor Supplies offers similar manual clamp variants having holding capacities of 475 lb, 1000 lb and 1600 lb.

Q. How do vertical hold down clamps work?

A. Vertical hold down clamps are manually operated using a vertical handle / lever to move the clamping arm. This handle movement pushes the clamping arm or the attached spindle against the workpiece and prevents it from moving mid-operation, thereby ensuring secure clamping.

Q. What is the difference between a vertical & horizontal toggle clamp?

A. The difference between a vertical & horizontal toggle clamp lies in the locking position of the clamp handle. A vertical clamp handle is vertically oriented or perpendicular to the base when in a locked position, whereas the horizontal toggle clamp is horizontally oriented or parallel to the base.

Q. What does a clamp's holding capacity signify?

A. The holding capacity or holding force represents the capability of a clamp to hold down mechanical equipment or sheet metal while assembling automotive parts or during manufacturing processes.

Q. How is clamping force different from the holding force / capacity?

A. Clamping force or exerting force refers to the actual force that the clamp exerts onto the workpiece for holding it. The holding force or capacity provides a measure of ideal strength of the clamp, measured during the manufacturing process. The clamping force is generally lesser than the holding capacity, depending upon several factors, such as position of the spindle in clamping bar and opposing force applied on the clamp.

Q. Which lubricant is recommended for use with Destaco clamps while servicing?

A. A coupling grease like Mobil XTC is recommended to be used for rebuilding or maintenance of the mechanical clamps.

Q. Are Destaco clamps rust resistant?

A. Yes, Destaco carbon steel clamps are zinc plated to withstand & minimise wear & tear due to harsh industrial environments. Destaco also supplies stainless steel clamps for applications requiring clamping in outdoor conditions.

Q. Are Destaco clamps used for hoisting or lifting applications?

A. No, Destaco clamps are load-rated only for clamping applications. They are not designed for hoisting or lifting applications.

Q. Does Destaco supply customised or special versions of their clamps according to applications?

A. Destaco can supply customised versions of clamps upon request. The customisations can range from a different colour of handles to the removal of the Destaco logo from the clamps.
