Allpax AX7200 motorised M3 rotary style gasket cutter is designed for efficiently fabricating multiple runs of the same-size gaskets. It is used with non-metallic gasket materials, such as cork, fibre and rubber, having a thickness of up to 1/4 inches.
Uses:
Allpax AX7200 M3 rotary-style gasket cutter is ideal for cutting out flange, ring and irregular-shaped gaskets from cork, fibre, rubber and other non-metallic materials. It is ideal for fabricating multiple same-sized gaskets. This gasket cutter is widely used in shipbuilding yards, breweries, power plants, refrigerated facilities and petrochemicals & pharmaceutical industries.
Working Mechanism:
- Mount the unit to a workbench using bolts for a stable base of operation.
- Select the sheet gasket material and cut it into a rough square with the shortest side measuring larger than the required gasket size's outside diameter. Trim the corners if necessary.
- Punch an 11/32 inch guide hole approximately in the centre of the trimmed square using a hollow punch. This keeps the gasket material centred and ensures proper tracking of the cutters.
- Slide the scale bar of the unit to the required radius, matching the desired outer diameter (OD) using the tee screw.
- Rotate the cutter disc lever counterclockwise to disengage the top cutting disc.
- Securely position the gasket material on the threaded scale bar spindle using the guide hole and the knurled nut on the scale bar assembly.
- Engage the top cutting disc by rotating the cutting disc lever clockwise to cut the OD of the gasket.
- Hold the momentary switch in the ON position to engage the motor. The constant downward pressure on the cutting disc lever and the rotation of the cutting discs will automatically draw the gasket material towards the cutting discs to initiate the cutting process.
- Disengage the top cutting disc after cutting the entire OD of the gasket. Remove any excess material outside the outer diameter of the gasket if needed.
- Repeat the same procedure for cutting the inner diameter (ID) of the gasket.
- Finally, remove the finished flange gasket from the cutter.
Features:
- This cutter can handle gaskets with a face width ranging from 1/4 to 7 inches.
- It can accommodate gaskets with inner diameters as small as 2 inches and outer diameters as large as 62 inches.
- This tool features a motorised rotary cutting mechanism, enabling faster and more efficient cutting compared to manual methods that are beneficial when fabricating multiple gaskets.
- It can be easily mounted to any workbench using 1/4-inch bolts for stability and to ensure a secure cutting operation.
- It comes with a heavy-duty cast iron frame having a 7-inch throat to accommodate large workpieces.
- This gasket cutter is equipped with heat-treated tool steel rotary cutting discs for enhanced durability and prolonged cutting performance.
Compatible Accessories:
- Allpax Non Metallic Gasket Cutters: These cutter disc sets contain both top & bottom cutting discs for replacing worn-out or damaged discs in this Allpax AX7200 assembly. You can also order the top and bottom cutter discs separately.
- Allpax Motorised M3 Replacement Motors: Users can replace faulty motors of the M3 rotary-style gasket cutter with these 120VAC, 1/4 hp gearmotors actuated with a momentary switch.
- Allpax Long Scale Bars: These long scale bars are suitable to measure the gasket diameters ranging from 2 to 62 inches.
- Allpax Hand Held Punches: These hole punches are ideal for creating precision-sized bolt holes by transmitting force from the punch handle to the cutting head.
Standards and Approvals:
Allpax AX7200 motorized M3 rotary-style gasket cutter meets OSHA standards for ensuring safe operation by preventing injuries & eliminating hazards at worksites.
Installation:
- Allpax AX7200 rotary-style gasket cutter can be mounted / clamped in an upright position on a vise or bolted to a workbench using 1/4 inch bolts.
- The protective tape over the cutting discs should be removed before usage. Similarly, also be careful of the razor-sharp edges.
- This M3 motorized unit comes pre fabricated, however, its parts may need adjustments over time. The cutting discs should also be sharpened using a hand sharpening stone.
- It is recommended to regularly clean & lubricate the cutter's gears and moving parts using a light machine oil.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Q. How to choose the suitable Allpax electric gasket cutter?
A. The first deciding factor is if you need the assembly to be stationary or portable. In general, the extension style gasket cutters are portable and lightweight, and are widely used to fabricate non-metallic or non-rigid gasket materials. Whereas the rotary style gasket cutters are heavier and require mounting or bolting on a vise or a workbench for fixed-location gasket cutting. These units are best suited for metallic or rigid gasket materials, as well as cutting out irregular-shaped gaskets. Although most gasket cutters operate manually, the rotary style gasket cutters are also available in a motorised variant for quick, hassle-free operation.
Q. What is the difference between a rotary gasket cutter and an extension style gasket cutter?
A. A rotary style gasket cutter is widely used in applications having a permanent installation constraint, whereas the extension-style gasket cutter can be moved easily from one location to another for cutting large diameter gaskets. The latter, unlike the former, also requires the gasket material to be laid flat on a workbench or a dedicated gasket fabrication table.
Q. What other variants of the Allpax AX7200 rotary gasket cutter are available?
A. We can also procure the manual version of this model with a hand crank. Another variant of this cutter comes with a 220VAC motor. Allpax further offers SM4 rotary-style gasket cutter for cutting metallic gasket materials, such as soft steel, copper, zinc & brass.
Q. How do I install Allpax AX7200 gasket cutters?
A.
- Allpax AX7200 rotary-style gasket cutters can be mounted / clamped in an upright position on a vice or bolted to a workbench using 1/4-inch bolts.
- The protective tape over the cutting discs should be removed before usage. Similarly, also be careful of the razor-sharp edges.
- These M3 motorised units come pre-fabricated and their parts may need adjustments over time. The cutting discs should also be sharpened using a hand-sharpening stone.
- It is recommended to regularly clean & lubricate the cutter's gears and moving parts using a light machine oil.
Q. How do I choose the correct rotary-style gasket cutter for my application?
A.
- Determine if you need a stationary or portable gasket cutter.
- Extension style gasket cutters are portable and lightweight, suitable for non-metallic or non-rigid gasket materials.
- Rotary-style gasket cutters are heavier and require mounting or bolting on a vise or workbench for fixed-location gasket cutting.
- Rotary-style cutters are ideal for metallic or rigid gasket materials and cutting irregular-shaped gaskets.
- Most gasket cutters operate manually, but motorised variants of rotary-style cutters are available for quick and hassle-free operation.
Q. How to clean and maintain Allpax AX7200 motorised M3 rotary style gasket cutters?
A.
- Power off and unplug the gasket cutter.
- Remove residual gasket material using a brush or compressed air.
- Clean the cutting discs and ensure that the protective tape is removed.
- Lubricate the gears and moving parts with a light machine oil.
- Check and adjust the tightness of bolts, nuts and screws.
- Sharpen the cutting disc if necessary using a hand-sharpening stone.
- Wipe down the gasket cutter to remove dirt and residue.
