Flaring Tools

Yellow Jacket flaring tools are designed for connecting refrigerant tubes & gas pipes using pressure to make a strong mechanical joint for positive sealing. These steel tools feature a cushioned handle for comfortable grip and a multi-faceted burnishing cone providing 45 degree flare at one lap for producing a smooth rolling action without galling or marring the copper or aluminium tubing. They have an integral height stop (automatic height gauge) to meet the correct tubing height requirements. Model 60295 comes with a built-in clutch release for preventing over-torquing. Choose from a wide range of these pipe flaring tools, available in O.D. range of 3/16 - 3/4 inches on Raptor Supplies.

Working Mechanism

  • Insert the tube into the appropriate hole in the tool and make sure the tube touches the device lightly. Gently slide the yoke to the top of the tube.
  • Use a power drill with a torque option to start the flaring process. If the cone free spins, the flaring tool is operating perfectly. The flaring is complete when the cone stops and does not rotate any further. Do not overturn.
  • For manual flaring, take the side handle off the side and use it on top of the yoke. Or use the top handle to turn manually.
  • The tool can return the yoke to the original position by using a power drill or manual operation. Release the side handle to move the yoke to the back. Now open the flaring bar to remove the flared tube.

Features

  • They feature a cushioned handle for a comfortable grip and reduce fatigue while operating the tool.
  • These steel tools feature a multi-faceted burnishing cone, providing 45 degrees flare at one lap for producing a smooth rolling action without galling or marring the soft metals.
  • Model 60295 is furnished with a built-in clutch release for preventing over-torquing.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are some important instructions for flaring?

  • An incorrect flare can cause a leak in the system, thus to prevent leaks and callbacks, cut tubing with a sharp wheel in a quality cutter for a clean right-angle cut.
  • To prevent tube constriction, use a light hand on the feed screw.
  • Unremoved burrs can break off tubing or scratch the flared surface. To remove burrs, use a deburring tool for smoothening the edges of the tubing.
  • Always use a drop of oil on the flaring cone and feed screw for precise action to achieve a perfect 45 degrees flare for a good seal.

What is an integral stop?

These tools have an integral stop, also known as an automatic height gauge to meet the tubing height requirements for specific applications.

Are these products corrosion-resistant?

Yellow Jacket flaring tools feature black oxide-finished steel and are heat-treated for durability and superior corrosion resistance.
