Shaw wing-nut mechanical expansion plugs minimise pressure from the fluid to permit change or expansion of a state from fluid to vapour. They are also used as low-pressure seals in circular openings.

Working Mechanism

  • The plug valve rotates between the closed and open positions to shield both seals from the flow channel.
  • To prevent wear or abrasion, there is no contact between the body and seals while the valve is open.
  • It expands onto the body seat when the valve is closed.
