Features

  • They are made from tough, ductile iron that can handle jobsite abuse, yet is light enough for easy transportation.
  • Ridgid combo roll groover can be mounted on RIDGID 300 power drive for machine-powered roll grooving jobs and allow manual grooving where the pipe is already in place.
  • This groover features patented auto-tracking technology that helps to keep the pipe automatically engaged to the groover in both machine-powered and manual grooving processes.
  • Model 916 roll groover comes with a patented single-stroke feed mechanism to allow accurate operation with minimum effort.
  • Model 918 groover features a 15-ton hydraulic ram plus a two-stage pump to enable quick and smooth operation.
  • This unit allows easy setup with quick roll set changeout for preventing downtime and enhancing grooving performance.

Frequently Asked Questions

How to load a pipe in a roll groover?

  • Ensure the machine switch is in the OFF position.
  • Fully retract the groove roll.
  • Keep appropriate pipe stands to support the pipe. Adjust the height of the pipe stands so that the pipe levels and the top inner diameter of the pipe sit on top of the drive roll.
  • Advance the groove roll until it touches and lightly grips the pipe.
  • Confirm the pipe positioning. Proper alignment of the pipe and roll groover ensures proper tracking of the pipe.
  • Restrict access or create a minimum 1 m clearance around the equipment and pipe, preventing the risk of entanglement or tipping.
  • Start the operation by plugging the power drive / grooving machine.

How to mount model 918 to bases for various machines?

  • Mount it on the appropriate machine base, aligning with 1/2 inch holes. Insert two 1/2 inch bolts from the underside of the base and tighten them with a wrench.
  • Mount the hydraulic pump on the base and secure it with four 1/4 inch bolts, tightening them with a 7/18 inch wrench.
  • Next, mount the stabilizer on the base. Insert two 3/8 inch screws through the base and securely tighten with a 5/18 inch hex key.

What is the purpose of an adjustment stabilizer in these groovers?

Adjustment stabilizer is included to maintain tracking and control of the pipe during grooving, especially when the pipe lengths approach the minimum 8-inch pipe length setting.
