Voltage Sensor Relays

Macromatic's PMPU-FA8 3-phase line monitor is used in 190 to 500V three-phase systems to protect motors & equipment from 5 phase errors like phase loss, phase reversal, phase unbalance, undervoltage & overvoltage faults and rapid cycling. It can detect single-phasing & unbalanced voltages irrespective of regenerative voltages. This PMP Series voltage sensing relay continues functioning with a lost phase, unlike similar three-phase monitor relays for ease of troubleshooting.

Features

  • Macromatic voltage sensing relays offer voltage control and fixed or adjustable time delay in energising the circuit.
  • Most of these voltage sensor relays have LED indicators (one or two) for showing the status of the relay.
  • Voltage monitor relays are of two types, over / under voltage relays that protect equipment in case of an over or under-voltage condition and voltage band relays that retain the operation of equipment within an upper & lower voltage limit.
  • These relays remain energised when the monitored voltage remains within the minimum / maximum / adjustable range.
  • VMP & VAKP Series plug into an 8-pin octal socket for mounting to a DIN-rail / panel and provide over / under voltage protection. VWKP Series have enclosures for mounting directly to a DIN-rail and provide voltage band protection.
  • Three-phase monitor relays are generally compatible with Wye or Delta systems, requiring no connection to the neutral wire.
  • PAP, PCP, PLP & PMP Series feature plug-in enclosures that connect to standard 8-pin octal sockets and have a wide universal voltage range.
  • PBDU & PMD Series mount directly on a DIN-rail and then get panel-mounted using two screws.
  • PC1 Series can improve decision-making and reduce downtime & service costs by providing real-time & historical fault conditions data using the Modbus TCP platform. These smart control system relays mount to DIN rails and offer alerts, predictive maintenance schedules and easy troubleshooting.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the current or power drawn by these voltage sensing relays?

Macromatic relays generally specify their consumed power as burden / load in VA (volt-amps) or Watts units. The current drawn by the device can be calculated in Amperes by dividing the VA specification by the voltage powering the device.

What are the steps to protect these voltage sensing relays from running backwards?

Phase reversals can cause backward-running of the rotating equipment leading to damage. They are generally caused due to miswiring. Macromatic three-phase monitor relays come with a protection feature to prevent equipment from running under this condition.

How are voltage band relays different from over / under voltage relays?

Voltage band relays protect those equipment that need to be operated within an upper & lower voltage limit. The equipment remains energised within a set voltage range. Whenever the operating voltage goes beyond or below this range, the relay drops out and the equipment de-energises. Over or under voltage relays on the other hand simply energise the relay output only when voltage is below or above the dial setting threshold, respectively.
