Working Mechanism

  • Eaton molded case circuit breakers are equipped with fixed thermal and fixed magnetic trips.
  • The thermal trip comprises a bi-metallic strip that gets heated when an overcurrent passes through the conductors, causing the contacts to open and interrupt the current flow.
  • The magnetic trip, on the other hand, has an electromagnetic component that detects the presence of a short circuit.
  • As the current rises abruptly, a magnetic field is created that causes the displacement in the tripping coil.
  • This opens the contact again and stops the current flow, preventing any further damage to the equipment.

Features

  • These circuit breakers feature a non-interchangeable, thermal-magnetic trip that avoids nuisance tripping on mild overloads while reacting instantly when exposed to faulty currents, thus providing maximum protection.
  • They feature a contact design that offers high-speed blow-open action, resulting in superior performance and eliminating the risk of potential hazards.
  • These FD Series complete MCCBs come with an enhanced, easy-to-use interface, allowing the operator to view and make adjustments to the trip settings.
  • They are integrated with load-side terminals for easy installation with panelboards and load centres.

Standards and Approvals

  • UL

Frequently Asked Questions

How to maintain the frame of these molded case circuit breakers?

  • Inspect the frame regularly for any signs of damage or wear like cracks, chips or corrosion.
  • Use a soft brush or cloth to remove any dirt, dust or debris from the frame.
  • Always lubricate moving parts of the frame including hinges or latches to ensure smooth operation.
