Vector motors are field-oriented control motors that disintegrate the field components of a three-phase AC electric motor into torque and flux producing currents, which results in the elimination of torque ripples. These motors are preferred over scalar-control motors due to smooth start-up, with higher starting torque, quick operation and better speed control. Vector-controlled induction motors are quite popular in the industry in applications that demand high dynamic performance, such as rolling mills.
